If the password is not known, clear it by performing the following steps: 1. Turn off the computer. 2. Disconnect the power cord. 3. Remove the battery pack. 4. Remove the Palmrest Cover with TouchPad. 5. Remove the keyboard. 6. Remove the Heatspreader. 7. Remove the RTC battery for about 30 seconds to ensure that the password is cleared. (The RTC battery is located underneath the heatspreader and next to the CD/DVD connector.) Not shown in illustration. 8. Reassemble the computer. 9. Turn on the computer to verify that the power-on password has been cleared. If it has not been cleared, repeat steps 1 through 9.

NOTE:
Clearing the power-on password also
removes all Setup attributes that are
programmed in the CMOS.
If the password is not known, clear it by performing the
following steps:
1.
Turn off the computer.
2.
Disconnect the power cord.
3.
Remove the
battery pack
.
4.
Remove the
Palmrest Cover with TouchPad
.
5.
Remove the
keyboard
.
6.
Remove the
Heatspreader
.
7.
Remove the RTC
battery for about
30 seconds to
ensure that the
password is
cleared. (The RTC
battery is located

8.
Reassemble the
