System board NOTE: The system board spare part kit includes replacement thermal material. You do NOT have to remove the heat sink to remove the system board. You do have to remove the fan to remove the system board. Turn off the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect the power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from the computer. 3. Disconnect all external devices from the computer. 4. Remove the following components: a. Bottom cover (see Bottom cover on page 28) b. Battery (see Battery on page 45) c. WLAN module (see WLAN module on page 31) d. Fan (see Fan on page 40) NOTE: If replacing the system board, be sure to remove the heat sink from the old board and install it on the new board. Component replacement procedures 47
