test port Description Tests individual ports using an offline or online test. Authority Admin session Syntax test port [port_number] offline [loopback_type] online Operands [port_number] The port to be tested. [port_number] can be 0-19. offline [loopback_type] Performs an offline test of the type given by [loopback_type] on the port given by [port_number]. Use the set port command to place the port in the diagnostics state before running the test. Table 68 describes the offline port test parameters. Table 68 Offline port loopback types Parameter internal external Description Exercises the internal port connections Exercises the port and its transceiver. A transceiver with a loopback plug is required for the port. online Exercises the port, transceiver, and device connections while the port is online. This test does not disrupt communication on the port. Notes To cancel a port test that is in progress, enter the test cancel port command. To display the status of the most recent port test or port test in progress, enter the test status port command. Table 69 describes the port test parameters. Table 69 Port test parameters Parameter LoopCount FrameSize DataPattern StopOnError LoopForever Description Number of frames sent: 1-4294967295. The default is 100. Number of bytes in each test frame: 40-2148. The default is 256. 32-bit hexadecimal test value, or default, which defines random data Stops the test when an error occurs (True). Otherwise, the test continues to completion. Restarts the test after completion and continues until you cancel it (True).
