SurePOS 500 Models 5x3 and 544/564 tips Tools This section contains tips for service personnel when servicing the SurePOS 500 Models 5x3 and 544/564. v You can determine whether a problem that you are experiencing has already been resolved. Just review the symptoms and fixes in the knowledgebase at the IBM Retail Stores Solutions Web site. 1. Go to www.ibm.com/solutions/retail/store/ 2. Select Support. 3. Select Knowledgebase Tips and FAQs. v Always reset CMOS (as described at "Restoring the default CMOS settings" on page 22) before replacing a system board to resolve a problem. This practice allows you to see if corrupted CMOS is the source of the trouble. Corrupted CMOS can cause unpredictable problems. v After replacing a system board, verify that the CMOS settings correspond with any customer-specific settings. See "System board - removing and replacing" on page 65. v After replacing a system board or processor, verify that the jumper settings on the system board correspond with the processor that is installed.
