CAUTION: When replacing the battery, use only IBM Part Number 33F8354 or an equivalent type battery recommended by the manufacturer. If your system has a module containing a lithium battery, replace it only with the same module type made by the same manufacturer. The battery contains lithium and can explode if not properly used, handled, or disposed of. Do not: v Throw or immerse into water v Heat to more than 100°C (212°F) v Repair or disassemble Dispose of the battery as required by local ordinances or regulations. Do the following to replace the battery: 1. Read "System reliability considerations" on page 44, and follow any special handling and installation instructions supplied with the replacement battery. 2. Turn off the server and peripheral devices and disconnect power cords and all external cables; then, remove the server cover. 3. Do the following to remove the battery: a. Use one fingernail to press the top of the battery clip away from the battery. b. Use your thumb and index finger to lift the battery from the socket. c. Ensure that the battery clip is touching the base of the battery socket by pressing gently on the clip. 4. Do the following to insert the new battery: a. Tilt the battery so that you can insert it into the socket on the side opposite the battery clip. b. Press the battery down into the socket until it clicks into place. Make sure the battery clip holds the battery securely. 5. Reinstall the server cover and connect all device and signal cables, and then power cords. 6. Turn on the server. 7. Do the following to replace the battery:
1.
Read

2.
Turn off the server and peripheral devices and disconnect power cords and all
external cables; then, remove the server cover.
3.
Do the following to remove the battery:
a.
Use one fingernail to press the top of the battery clip away from the battery.
b.
Use your thumb and index finger to lift the battery from the socket.
c.
Ensure that the battery clip is touching the base of the battery socket by

4.
Do the following to insert the new battery:
