Completing the upgrade installation Information on the following pages will guide you in completing the hardware installation and installing the necessary software for this processor upgrade. Updating the system configuration Complete this procedure. 1. Connect the power cord to the power supply. 2. Connect all other server and device cables and connectors. 3. Turn the server power on. 4. Watch the monitor screen. The system automatically accesses the Configuration/Setup program. 5. Select Save Settings and exit the Configuration/Setup program. 6. Insert the HardwareGuide CD that comes with the IBM Netfinity 5500 M20 Server Library contained in this option package, into the CD-ROM drive. If necessary, refer to the Server Library for information on using the HardwareGuide CD. 7. Restart the server. 8. Go to "Updating the System Diagnostic programs." Updating the System Diagnostic programs Complete this procedure to update the system diagnostic programs. 1. Insert the IBM Netfinity 5500 M20 Diagnostic Update Diskette 1 of 2 into the diskette drive. 2. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart the server. The system begins the power-on self-test (POST). Information similar to the following will appear on the screen. Flash Utility Select one: 1. Update Diagnostics 3. Exit Enter F1=Help F3=Exit 3. Select: 1. Update Diagnostics and press Enter. 4. Select a language (0-7) from the list shown on the next screen and press Enter to accept your choice. A message in your selected language similar to the following appears. 384 Netfinity Server HMM
