Configuring the Advanced System Management hardware without Netfinity Manager ServerGuide includes a configuration utility that enables you to configure the Advanced System Management (ASM) PCI Adapter or Processor without using Netfinity Manager and the Advanced System Management service. With the configuration utility, you can: Set Alert Settings to enable or disable alert functions Configure Dial In/Out settings Set General Settings, including the Name and Number that identifies this Advanced System Management hardware, the date and time reported by the ASM hardware, assorted time-out values, and schedule a time for the system to be turned on Configure Modem settings Configure Network settings You can start the configuration utility in one of two ways: Access the server system partition and start the Advanced System Management Configuration Utility. If you used ServerGuide to configure the Netfinity server and creation of a system partition is supported on the server (see Learn About ServerGuide for more information), the Advanced System Management Configuration Utility is available from the the system partition menu. Restart the server and press Alt+F1 at the proper time indicated during POST. Start the system using an Advanced System Management Configuration Utility diskette. If the system does not have a system partition, you can use ServerGuide Diskette Factory to create an Advanced System Management Configuration Utility diskette. After you create this diskette, place it in the server diskette drive and then restart the server. The configuration utility starts automatically. To use the configuration utility: 1. Insert the Advanced System Management CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive and restart the system. If the system does not start from the CD-ROM, use POST/BIOS setup to configure the CD-ROM drive as a boot device. Please refer to the Server Library that was included with the system for additional information. 2. After the system starts, the main option menu will open. Configuring the Advanced System
Management hardware without Netfinity
Manager
ServerGuide includes a configuration utility that enables
you to configure the Advanced System Management
(ASM) PCI Adapter or Processor without using Netfinity
Manager and the Advanced System Management service.
With the configuration utility, you can:

Set Alert Settings to enable or disable alert functions
±
Configure Dial In/Out settings
±
Set General Settings, including the Name and
Number that identifies this Advanced System
Management hardware, the date and time reported by
