Page 5 highlights

PERCAUTIONS RRDANGER HIGH RF VOLTAGE! NEVER touch an antenna while transmitting. This may result in an electrical shock or burn. RRWARNING! NEVER operate the transceiver during a lightning storm. It may result in an electric shock, cause a fire, or damage the transceiver. Always disconnect the power source and antenna before a storm. RRWARNING! NEVER connect the transceiver directly to an AC outlet. This may pose a fire hazard or result in an electric shock. RRWARNING! NEVER mount the transceiver's main unit overhead. The weight of the main unit is approximately 4.41 kg (9.7 lb), and it could easily fall due to wave shocks or vibration. The unit must be mounted on a flat hard surface only. RRWARNING! NEVER connect a power source of more than 16 V DC. This connection could cause a fire or ruin the transceiver. RRWARNING! NEVER reverse the DC power cable polarity. This could cause a fire or damage the equipment. RRWARNING! NEVER remove the fuse holder on the DC power cable. Excessive current caused by a short could cause a fire or damage the transceiver. RRWARNING! NEVER place the transceiver where normal operation of the vessel may be hindered, or where it could cause bodily injury. RRWARNING! NEVER let metal, wire or other objects protrude the transceiver or into connectors on the rear panel. This may result in an electric shock. CAUTION: DO NOT use harsh solvents such as benzine or alcohol when cleaning, because they will damage the transceiver's surfaces. CAUTION: DO NOT use the transceiver in areas with temperatures out of the range of -20°C ~ +55°C (-4°F ~ +131°F). CAUTION: DO NOT place the transceiver in excessively dusty environments or direct sunlight. CAUTION: DO NOT use non-Icom microphones. Other manufacturer's microphones have different pin assignments, and connection to the transceiver may damage the transceiver. CAUTION: DO NOT place the transceiver against walls or putting anything on top of the transceiver. This may overheat the transceiver. BE CAREFUL! The transceiver's main unit will become hot when operating the transceiver continuously for long periods. BE CAREFUL! The remote controller's front panel meets IPX7 requirements for waterproof protection. However, once the transceiver has been dropped, or the waterproof seal is cracked or damaged, waterproof protection cannot be guaranteed because of possible damage to the case or the waterproof seal. LLThe connectors on the rear panel do not meet IPX7. NOTE: The LCD may have cosmetic imperfections that appear as small dark or light spots. This is not a malfunction or defect, but a normal characteristic of LCDs. NOTE: Install the transceiver and microphone more than 1 meter (3.3 ft) from the vessel's magnetic navigation compass. NOTE: Always place the unit in a secure place to avoid inadvertent use by unauthorized persons. iv

R
DANGER HIGH RF VOLTAGE! NEVER
touch
an antenna while transmitting. This may result in an
electrical shock or burn.
R
WARNING! NEVER
operate the transceiver during
a lightning storm. It may result in an electric shock,
cause a fire, or damage the transceiver. Always
disconnect the power source and antenna before a
storm.
R
WARNING! NEVER
connect the transceiver directly
to an AC outlet. This may pose a fire hazard or result
in an electric shock.
R
WARNING! NEVER
mount the transceiver’s
main unit overhead. The weight of the main unit is
approximately 4.41 kg (9.7 lb), and it could easily fall
due to wave shocks or vibration. The unit must be
mounted on a flat hard surface only.
R
WARNING! NEVER
connect a power source of
more than 16 V DC. This connection could cause a
fire or ruin the transceiver.
R
WARNING! NEVER
reverse the DC power cable
polarity. This could cause a fire or damage the
equipment.
R
WARNING! NEVER
remove the fuse holder on the
DC power cable. Excessive current caused by a short
could cause a fire or damage the transceiver.
R
WARNING! NEVER
place the transceiver where
normal operation of the vessel may be hindered, or
where it could cause bodily injury.
R
WARNING! NEVER
let metal, wire or other objects
protrude the transceiver or into connectors on the rear
