13 AIS Any AIS or NMEA 0183 VHF that can do AIS can be used by the ELITE-5Ti, if the AIS receiver can send and receive at the same NMEA 0183 baud rate. All units, except the ELITE-5Ti, can use any NMEA 2000 or NMEA 0183 AIS device. AIS targets can be displayed as overlay on chart images, making this feature an important tool for safe travelling and collision avoidance. You can set alarms to notify you if an AIS target gets too close or if the target is lost. AIS target symbols The system uses the AIS target symbols shown below: Sleeping AIS target (not moving or at anchor). Moving and safe AIS target with course extension line.
