2 - 4 Symbol LS3408 Product Reference Guide Aiming Do not hold the scanner directly over the bar code. Laser light reflecting directly back into the scanner from the bar code is known as specular reflection. This specular reflection can make decoding difficult. Tilt the scanner up to 65° forward or back to achieve a successful decode (Figure 2-3). Simple practice quickly shows what tolerances to work within. 65° 65° Figure 2-3 Optimum Scan Angles
