Phone Basics Using Your Phone's Battery and Charger WARNING Use only Nextel-approved or Motorola-approved batteries and chargers with your phone. The failure to use a Nextel-approved or Motorola-approved battery and charger may increase the risk that your phone overheats, catches fire, or explodes, resulting in serious bodily injury, death, or property damage. Nextel-approved and Motorola-approved batteries and accessories can be found at Sprint Stores, through Motorola, or by calling 1-888-242-4187 to order. They're also available at www.nextel.com - just click the Accessories link. Battery Capacity Your phone is equipped with a Lithium Ion (Li-Ion) battery. It allows you to recharge your battery before it is fully drained. When the battery reaches 5% of its capacity, your phone makes a sound and displays a message. When there are approximately two minutes of talk time left, the phone sounds an audible alert and then powers down. Note: Long light settings, searching for service, vibrate mode, browser use, and other variables may affect battery life. Tip: Be sure to watch your phone's battery level indicator and charge the battery before it runs out of power. You can purchase a larger battery with a longer battery life, if needed. Installing the Battery To install your battery: 1. Make sure the phone is powered off. 2. Slide the release button back until it releases the battery door. Section 1B: Your Phone: The Basics 17
