A Continuous Release Mode Continuous release mode can not be used with the built-in flash; lower the flash or turn the flash off (0 112-116) when shooting in continuous release mode. A Buffer Size The approximate number of images that can be stored in the memory buffer at current settings is shown in the monitor exposure-count display while the shutter-release button is pressed halfway (up to 26 large, normal-quality JPEG images or 9 large, RAW+JPEG fine images can be stored in the buffer, although the number of pictures that can be taken before the frame rate drops varies with shooting conditions and memory card performance). The illustration shows the display when space remains in the buffer for about 17 pictures. A The Memory Buffer The camera is equipped with a memory buffer for temporary storage, k allowing shooting to continue while photographs are being saved to the memory card. Up to 100 photographs can be taken in succession. While photographs are being recorded to the memory card, the AF lamp/memory-card access lamp will light (0 23). Depending on shooting conditions and memory card performance, recording may take from a few seconds to a few minutes. Do not remove the memory card or remove or disconnect the power source until the access lamp has gone out. If the camera is switched off while data remain in the buffer, the power will not turn off until all images in the buffer have been recorded. If the battery is exhausted while images remain in the buffer, the shutter release will be disabled and the images transferred to the memory card. A The Shooting Menu The release mode can also be selected using the Release mode option in the shooting menu (0 176). 65
