Section 5 - Chapter 3 - The OkiNet for VINES Utility The IP address must follow the format XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX, where each XXX is a number from 0 to 255. If you change the IP address, the change will remain undetected until the OkiLAN 6100e+ is reset or powered off and on. Note: If you select an invalid IP address, you may not be able to access the OkiLAN 6100e+ via TCP/ IP. Default Gateway If your local network is attached to other networks, you can specify the address of your default gateway. This gateway will be selected whenever messages need to be sent to another network. The gateway address must follow the format XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX, where each XXX is a number between 0 and 255. If you change the default gateway address, the change will remain undetected until the OkiLAN 6100e+ is reset or powered off and on. Note: If you select an invalid default gateway or the default gateway goes down, the OkiLAN 6100e+ may not be able to communicate with non-local networks. Subnet Mask If your network environment includes subnets, you will want to set the subnet mask. The subnet mask must follow the format XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX, where each XXX is a number from 0 to 255. The default subnet mask is 0.0.0.0. The OkiLAN 6100e+ interprets a subnet mask of 0.0.0.0 or 255.255.255.255 as no subnet mask specified. If you select an invalid subnet mask, you may not be able to access the OkiLAN 6100e+ via TCP/IP. Banyan VINES OKI OkiLAN 6100e+ User's Guide V - 21
