Taking still pictures TIPS • The monitor turned off. T If the camera is not used for over 3 minutes, the monitor turns off automatically, and another 15 minutes later, the lens is retracted. Operate the shutter button or zoom lever to turn the monitor on. • The monitor is hard to see. T Bright light, such as direct sunlight, may cause vertical lines to appear on the monitor screen. Although this does not affect the actual recorded pictures, use the viewfinder instead if you are having trouble seeing the image. 3 Taking still pictures using the viewfinder Shooting basics The camera actually records a wider area than the picture you compose while looking through the viewfinder.
