164 Red-Eye Reduction As with the built-in flash, red-eye reduction is available with an external flash. This may not be available on some flashes or may have restrictions for usage conditions. See the chart on p.160. • The red-eye reduction feature works even when only an external flash is used. (p.57) • If red-eye reduction is used when the external flash is set as the slave unit or with the wireless function, the preflash for red-eye reduction will trigger the external flash. Do not use red-eye reduction when using a slave unit. Function Reference Rear Curtain Sync Flash When using the built-in flash with an external flash (AF540FGZ or 5 AF360FGZ) that is set to the rear curtain flash function, the built-in flash will also use this mode. Confirm that both flash units are fully charged before shooting. Using the Built-in Flash with the External Flash As shown in the figure below, attach the hot shoe adapter FG (optional) to the camera hot shoe and an off-camera shoe adapter F (optional) to the bottom of the external flash, and connect these with the extension cord F5P (optional). The off camera shoe adapter F comes with a tripod screw for securing to your tripod. Only the P-TTL auto flash can be used in combination with the built-in flash. Function Reference
As with the built-in flash, red-eye reduction is available with an external
flash. This may not be available on some flashes or may have restrictions
for usage conditions. See the chart on p.160.
When using the built-in flash with an external flash (AF540FGZ or
AF360FGZ) that is set to the rear curtain flash function, the built-in flash
will also use this mode. Confirm that both flash units are fully charged
before shooting.
As shown in the figure below, attach the hot shoe adapter F

(optional) to
the camera hot shoe and an off-camera shoe adapter F (optional) to the
bottom of the external flash, and connect these with the extension cord
F5P (optional). The off camera shoe adapter F comes with a tripod screw
for securing to your tripod.
Only the P-TTL auto flash can be used in combination with the built-in
