Setting the speaker distance You must set the distance from your listening position to the speakers. The available distance for a center and a surround speaker depends on that of the front speaker. The next list shows the selectable distance value of each speaker. The list below describes the available setting for each of speakers. The default adjustments are in parentheses. Speaker Distance FRONT (10 ft/3.0m) Set this between 3 and 20 ft (0.9 m and 6.0 m) in 1 ft (0.3 m) increments CENTER (10 ft/3.0m) Set this between 3 and 20 ft* (0.9 m and 6.0 m) in 1 ft (0.3 m) increments. SURROUND (10 ft/3.0m) Set this between 3 and 20 ft* (0.9 m and 6.0 m) in 1 ft (0.3 m) increments. * The setup value may be different depending on the setup value of the front speaker. 1 Press the "V" SELECT on the Home Menu, then press the "SETUP" SELECT. The Setup Menu appears. 2 Press the "V" SELECT repeatedly until "SP. DISTANCE" appears. 3 Press the "SP. DISTANCE" SELECT. The Speaker distance setup Menu appears. Setting a speaker level The Level Menu contains parameters that let you adjust the balance and speaker volumes of each speaker. The settings available in this menu are applied to all sound fields. Be sure to set "TEST TONE" to "ON" for easy adjustment. The default adjustments are in parentheses. Speaker SUB WOOFER (0 dB) FRONT (BALANCE) CENTER (0 dB) SURROUND L (0 dB) SURROUND R (0 dB) Speaker level Set this between -6 dB and +6 dB in 0.5 dB increments. The balance can be adjusted 8 steps in left and right position. Set this between -6 dB and +6 dB in 0.5 dB increments. Set this between -6 dB and +6 dB in 0.5 dB increments. (page 44) 4 Adjust the speaker level by pressing each of the "+," "-," "L," or "R" SELECT. The SELECT on the left side decrease the level in 0.5 dB steps. For front speaker adjustment, the SELECT on the left side moves the speaker balance toward the left. The SELECT on the right side increase the level in 0.5 dB steps. Setting the speaker distance
