Giga Pocket Glossary of Terms Giga Pocket Personal Video Recorder software uses terms that may be unfamiliar. The most common terms and their definitions are listed below. Cabinet CATV Clip Cut Expiration date Film roll GOP Management information MPEG file Playlist Safety Tab Slip play Snapshot Stand by mode STB A cabinet acts as a container for Video Capsules in Video Explorer. Refers to Community Access Television, otherwise known as cable television. A clip is a Video Capsule when it is stored in a Playlist. A cut is a selected scene taken from a previously recorded Video Capsule. A Video Capsule is stored on the hard disk drive for a preset period of time. When this time has expired, the Video Capsule is automatically deleted. During Video Capsule playback, a snapshot view of the scenes are captured on a film roll. You can scroll freely through the film roll to view different scenes. Group of Pictures (GOP) are the smallest unit of measure for the images captured on a Video Capsule. A single GOP is approximately 0.5 to 1 second in length. Management information contains the creation date of Video Capsules and their thumbnails - information that is required for preview. A file that contains compressed moving pictures using the MPEG standard, with .mpg as the file name extension. A Playlist is a collection of cuts that you can select from recorded Video Capsules. The Playlist feature allows you to design playback of your selected scenes. Removing the safety tab from a Video Capsule prevents accidental erasing of your video data. This feature allows you to view delayed video playback. While your recording is in progress, you are able to view the recording from the beginning. A snapshot is a miniature view displayed on the film roll in Giga Video Recorder, Playlist Builder, and the preview monitor in Video Explorer. Standby mode is power saving mode that is set using Windows operating system. Your computer stays in this power saving mode until approximately 5 minutes before the timer recording is due to begin. Giga Pocket Personal Video Recorder software uses terms that may be
unfamiliar. The most common terms and their definitions are listed below.
Cabinet
A cabinet acts as a container for Video Capsules in Video
Explorer.
CATV
Refers to Community Access Television, otherwise known as
cable television.
Clip
A clip is a Video Capsule when it is stored in a Playlist.
Cut
A cut is a selected scene taken from a previously recorded
Video Capsule.
Expiration date
A Video Capsule is stored on the hard disk drive for a preset
period of time. When this time has expired, the Video
Capsule is automatically deleted.
Film roll
During Video Capsule playback, a snapshot view of the
scenes are captured on a film roll. You can scroll freely
through the film roll to view different scenes.
GOP
