Uninstalling Your Scanner

Maintenance Problem: The status light is blinking. What does this mean? The status light indicates the current state of the scanner. Descriptions of the most common patterns are listed below. Contact Xerox Technical Support if you experience a different blinking pattern. • Blinking green: indicates the scanner is preparing to scan. • Blinking amber, 1 long + 6 short blinks: indicates a problem with the status light itself. Contact Xerox Technical support. • Blinking amber, 1 long + 7 short blinks: indicates a scanner lock error. Make sure the lock on the bottom of the scanner is in the unlocked position. • Blinking amber, 1 long + 11 short blinks: indicates a paper jam. Refer to "Clearing Paper Jams" on page 56. Uninstalling Your Scanner To uninstall your DocuMate 520 scanner, remove the scanner software first, and then remove PaperPort, or other scanner software. Step 1: Uninstalling the DocuMate Software 1. On the Windows taskbar, click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel. 2. Double-click the Scanner and Cameras icon. • For Windows 98SE or 2000, click the Devices tab, select the XEROX DocuMate 520 scanner, and click the Remove button to remove the scanner from the list. Click OK. • For Windows ME or XP, right-click the XEROX DocuMate 520 icon, and select Delete to delete the scanner from the list. 3. Unplug the USB cable from the scanner. 4. Click the Back button in the toolbar to go back to the Control Panel. 5. Double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon. • Windows 98SE or ME: The Add/Remove Programs Properties window opens. Select the Install/Uninstall tab. • Windows 2000 or XP: The Add or Remove Programs window opens. Make sure the Change or Remove option is selected. DocuMate 520 Scanner Installation Guide 61

Uninstalling Your Scanner
To uninstall your DocuMate 520 scanner, remove the scanner
software first, and then remove PaperPort, or other scanner
software.
Step 1: Uninstalling the DocuMate Software

On the Windows taskbar, click
Start
, point to
Settings
, and
then click
Control Panel
.
2.
Double-click the
Scanner and Cameras
icon.
For Windows 98SE or 2000, click the
Devices
tab, select
the
XEROX DocuMate 520
scanner, and click the Remove
button to remove the scanner from the list. Click
OK
.
For Windows ME or XP, right-click the
XEROX DocuMate
520
icon, and select
Delete
to delete the scanner from the
list.
3.
Unplug the USB cable from the scanner.
4.
Click the
Back
button in the toolbar to go back to the Control
Panel.
5.
Double-click the
Add/Remove Programs
icon.
Windows 98SE or ME: The Add/Remove Programs
Properties window opens. Select the Install/Uninstall tab.
Windows 2000 or XP: The Add or Remove Programs
window opens. Make sure the Change or Remove option is
selected.
