USING THE BUILT-IN TIMER Before using the timer 1 Make sure the clock of the unit is correct (for setting the clock, see page 7). 2 If you want to use the MDX-M5 or KX-M5 for timer play, you must first make the connections as shown in "Connecting other components" on page 5. For details, refer to the instructions supplied with the MDX-M5 or KX-M5. Timer play By using the built-in timer, you can have the unit turn on at a specified time and begin play of a tape, CD, or radio automatically. You can also specify the turn off time. For tuner Tune in to the station you will listen to. For CD player Insert the desired disc into the unit. If more than one disc is inserted into the unit, select the disc by pressing DISC SELECT. For the MDX-M5 or KX-M5 Insert the desired MD or tape into the selected unit. For details, refer to the instructions supplied with the MDX-M5 or KX-M5. 2 Press and hold TIMER for more than 2 seconds. TIMER 3 Set the time to start play. Press TUNING //? repeatedly to select the hour, then press SET. TIMER 4 Press TUNING //? repeatedly to select the minute, then press SET. TIMER 5 Set the hour and minute to stop play in the same way as shown above if needed. TIMER E-18
