Power Initiating or Exiting Hibernation Task Procedure Result Initiate Hibernation. If the notebook is on, briefly press the power button once. If the notebook is in Standby, briefly press the power button twice.* or ■ In Windows 2000 Professional, select Start > Shut Down > Hibernate, then select the OK button. ■ In Windows XP Home or Windows XP Professional, select Start > Turn Off the Computer > Hibernate. (If the Hibernate option is not displayed, press the shift key.) Power/standby light turns off. Screen clears. Exit Hibernation. Briefly press the power button. Power/standby light turns on. Your work returns to the screen. *This procedure works only if the power button is assigned to Hibernation. The power button is set to Hibernation at the factory.
