5-4 Compaq Parallel Database Cluster Model PDC/O5000 for Oracle8i and Windows 2000 Administrator Guide software, review the section in this chapter entitled "Installing Operating System Software" to understand the idiosyncrasies of configuring a cluster. NOTE: Certain restrictions apply to the server models and server configurations that are supported by the Compaq Parallel Database Cluster. For a current list of PDC-certified servers and details on supported configurations, refer to the Compaq Parallel Database Cluster Model PDC/O5000 Certification Matrix for Windows 2000. This document is available on the Compaq website at www.compaq.com/solutions/enterprise/ha-pdc.html While setting up the physical hardware, follow the installation instructions in your Compaq ProLiant Server Setup and Installation Guide and in your Compaq ProLiant Server Installation Poster. Installing the KGPSA-BC and KGPSA-CB Host Adapters To install KGPSA-BC PCI-to-Optical Fibre Channel Host Adapters (KGPSA-BC Host adapter) or KGPSA-CB PCI-to-Optical Fibre Channel Host Adapters (KGPSA-CB Host Adapter) in your servers, follow the installation instructions in your Compaq ProLiant Server Setup and Installation Guide and in your Compaq ProLiant Server Installation Poster. Install the host adapters into the same PCI slots in each server. If possible, the host adapter should be placed into PCI slots on different PCI buses (if the server has more than one PCI bus). For example, in a ProLiant 6500 server, host adapters could be installed into PCI slots 4 and 7. This distributes the load from the storage subsystem. You would then install two host adapter into PCI slots 4 and 7 in all other cluster nodes. Installing GBIC-SW Modules for the Host Adapters Each host adapter ships with two GBIC-SW modules. Verify that one GBIC-SW module is installed in each host adapter and another module is installed into the active port for that host adapter on its Storage Hub or Fibre Channel SAN Switch. Each end of the Fibre Channel cable connecting a host adapter to a Storage Hub or Fibre Channel SAN Switch plugs into a GBIC-SW module.

Compaq Parallel Database Cluster Model PDC/O5000 for Oracle8i and Windows 2000 Administrator Guide
software, review the section in this chapter entitled “Installing Operating
System Software” to understand the idiosyncrasies of configuring a cluster.
NOTE:
Certain restrictions apply to the server models and server configurations that are
supported by the Compaq Parallel Database Cluster. For a current list of PDC-certified
servers and details on supported configurations, refer to the
Compaq Parallel Database
Cluster Model PDC/O5000 Certification Matrix
for Windows 2000
. This document is
available on the Compaq website at
www.compaq.com/solutions/enterprise/ha-pdc.html
While setting up the physical hardware, follow the installation instructions in
your
Compaq ProLiant Server Setup and Installation Guide
and in your
Compaq ProLiant Server Installation Poster.
Installing the KGPSA-BC and KGPSA-CB Host
Adapters
To install KGPSA-BC PCI-to-Optical Fibre Channel Host Adapters
(KGPSA-BC Host adapter) or KGPSA-CB PCI-to-Optical Fibre Channel Host
Adapters (KGPSA-CB Host Adapter) in your servers, follow the installation
instructions in your
Compaq ProLiant Server Setup and Installation Guide
and
in your Compaq ProLiant Server Installation Poster.
Install the host adapters into the same PCI slots in each server. If possible, the
host adapter should be placed into PCI slots on different PCI buses (if the
server has more than one PCI bus). For example, in a ProLiant 6500 server,
host adapters could be installed into PCI slots 4 and 7. This distributes the load
from the storage subsystem. You would then install two host adapter into PCI
slots 4 and 7 in all other cluster nodes.
Installing GBIC-SW Modules for the Host Adapters
Each host adapter ships with two GBIC-SW modules. Verify that one
GBIC-SW module is installed in each host adapter and another module is
installed into the active port for that host adapter on its Storage Hub or Fibre
Channel SAN Switch. Each end of the Fibre Channel cable connecting a host
adapter to a Storage Hub or Fibre Channel SAN Switch plugs into a GBIC-SW
module.
