Preparing the Replacement Node
Several steps should be performed on the replacement server before it is
integrated into the cluster.
Prior to integrating the server into the cluster, perform the following steps:
1.
Connect the replacement server to the cluster interconnect and to the
client LAN. Power on the server. Although physically connected to the
cluster, the server is not yet integrated into the cluster.
IMPORTANT:
Do not connect the server to the Storage Hubs or Fibre Channel SAN
Switches yet.
2.
Start the replacement node with the Compaq SmartStart and Support
Software CD in the CD-ROM drive.
3.
Use the Compaq System Configuration Utility to configure the hardware
settings of the node and its adapters.
4.
Use the Compaq Array Configuration Utility to configure the node

local non-shared disks with RAID.
5.
Install and configure Windows 2000 Advanced Server with Service
Pack 1 or later.
6.
Install necessary Compaq drivers and utilities from the Compaq
SmartStart and Support Software CD.
7.
Enter unique IP addresses and node names for each node in the hosts
and lmhosts files located at %SystemRoot%\system32\drivers\etc.
8.
Install the host adapter drivers.
9.
Install the Fibre Channel Software Setup (FCSS) utility.
10.
Install and configure Secure Path for Windows 2000.
