Compaq Parallel Database Cluster Model PDC/O5000 for Oracle8i and Windows 2000 Administrator Guide
Managing Changes to Shared Storage
Components
Adding New Storagesets to Increase Shared
Storage Capacity
During the life of your PDC/O5000, you might need to expand the capacity of
your shared storage subsystem. The following steps describe how to add a
storageset to the MA8000/EMA12000 Storage Subsystem and how to allocate
it to Oracle.
IMPORTANT:
This activity requires restarting the cluster nodes, so it is recommended
you perform these steps during non-peak hours.
To add new storagesets to a Secure Path configuration:
1.
Physically add the disks to the MA8000/EMA12000 disk enclosures.
2.
Use the HSG80 Storage window, located within the StorageWorks
Command Console (SWCC) program
,
to create new storagesets on the
storage subsystem.
3.
To configure a new storageset unit, verify access to it, and create
partitions for it, follow the procedures in these subsections:
G
“Configuring a Storageset” in Chapter 5, “Installation and
Configuration.”
G
“Creating Partitions” in Chapter 5, “Installation and Configuration.”
4.
Use the CLI window to specify a storage unit I/O path for the new unit.
5.
Restart all cluster nodes so the Secure Path software can configure the
new unit.
6.
Run Secure Path on one cluster node. This enables Secure Path to
recognize the newly-added logical drive volumes and partitions.
7.
Perform the necessary Oracle commands to associate the new data files
to the database. See the Oracle setup and configuration documentation
provided with the Oracle software for detailed instructions.
