D-Link DES-3010FA/GA User Guide Defining Default Gateways Packets are forwarded to the default IP when frames are sent to a remote network via the default gateway. The configured IP address must belong to the same subnet of one of the IP interfaces. To define a default gateway: 1. Click Basic Setup > IP Configuration > IP Addressing > Default Gateway. The Default Gateway Page opens: Figure 73: Default Gateway Page The Default Gateway Page contains the following fields: • User Defined Default Gateway - Defines the default gateway IP address. • Active Default Gateway - Indicates if the default gateway is active. The possible field values are: - Checked - Activates the default gateway. - Unchecked - Maintains the default gateway as inactive. This is the default value. • Remove - Removes the default gateway. The possible field values are: - Checked - Removes the selected default gateway. - Unchecked - Maintains the default gateway. 2. Select an IP address in the User Defined Default Gateway field. 3. Select the Active Default Gateway check box. 4. Click . The device's default gateway is defined, and the device is updated. Page 124
