Overview Navigation Flight Planning Hazard Avoidance Additional Features Appendix D CONNECTING TO A GTX 345 To receive weather and traffic information from the GTX 345, the GTX must be connected to the aera through Bluetooth or the aera 660 bare wire cable (P/N 01012373-01). The aera must also be configured correctly to receive traffic and weather information from the GTX 345 as described below. Configuring the aera 660 with GTX 345 using the RS-232 serial port: 1) Connect the aera to the GTX 345 through the bare wire cable. 2) From the Main Menu, touch Tools > Setup > Interface. 3) Touch the 'Serial Data Format' data field button. A vertical list is displayed. 4) Touch 'Connext 57600 Baud'. When recognized, the GTX 345 device and connections information is shown. 5) From the GTX 345, press the ON and ENT Keys to enter setup mode. 6) Press the FUNC Key to reach the RS-232 SETUP PAGE. 7) Select RS-232 CH CONNECTED TO AERA 660. 8) Set input and output format to CONNEXT FMT 1. CAUTION: Never remove power from the aera or GTX 345 during a software update. Anytime the aera software is updated it may also contain firmware updates for products such as the GTX 345. The aera software will update first, after the unit reboots it will update the firmware of a connected GTX 345. You can view the GTX 345 update progress on the Data Link Information Page. CONNECTING TO A GTX 345
To receive weather and traffic information from the GTX 345, the GTX must be
connected to the aera through Bluetooth or the aera 660 bare wire cable (P/N 010-
12373-01).
The aera must also be configured correctly to receive traffic and weather
information from the GTX 345 as described below.
Configuring the aera 660 with GTX 345 using the RS-232 serial
port:

Connect the aera to the GTX 345 through the bare wire cable.
