Upgrading the BootWare Automatic upgrade To run the new system software image, you must reboot the switch. During the reboot, the system prompts you to upgrade the basic section and extended section of BootWare if the BootWare image included in the system software image is newer. Extend BootWare Version is not equal,updating? [Y/N] Basic BootWare Version is not equal,updating? [Y/N] Enter Y to upgrade the basic section and extended section. If you enter N, the switch does not upgrade the BootWare image. If you perform no operation, the switch upgrades the entire BootWare image by default. NOTE: • HP recommends that you upgrade both the basic and extended sections to avoid compatibility problems. • If you choose to not upgrade the BootWare image, the system will ask for an upgrade at the next reboot performed by powering on the switch or rebooting from the CLI (promptly or as scheduled). If you fail to make any choice in the required time, the system upgrades the entire BootWare image. Manual upgrade NOTE: Automatic upgrade mode is recommended. To manually upgrade the BootWare: # Perform the copy command to copy the system software image newest.bin that contains the new BootWare image from the master to the storage media of the subordinate with the member number 2. Upgrading the BootWare
Automatic upgrade
To run the new system software image, you must reboot the switch. During the reboot, the system prompts
you to upgrade the basic section and extended section of BootWare if the BootWare image included in
the system software image is newer.

to upgrade the basic section and extended section. If you enter
N
, the switch does not upgrade
the BootWare image. If you perform no operation, the switch upgrades the entire BootWare image by
default.
NOTE:
HP recommends that you upgrade both the basic and extended sections to avoid compatibility
problems.
If you choose to not upgrade the BootWare image, the system will ask for an upgrade at the next reboot
performed by powering on the switch or rebooting from the CLI (promptly or as scheduled). If you fail to
make any choice in the required time, the system upgrades the entire BootWare image.
Manual upgrade
NOTE:
Automatic upgrade mode is recommended.
To manually upgrade the BootWare:
# Perform the

command to copy the system software image
newest.bin
that contains the new
BootWare image from the master to the storage media of the subordinate with the member number 2.
Make sure to save the image to the storage media of all member switches.
