To upgrade the system software by using the automatic software upgrade function: NOTE: When you add a switch to the IRF fabric, the automatic software upgrade function compares the software versions of the switch and the IRF master. If the versions are different, the switch automatically downloads the system software image from the master, sets the downloaded file as the system software used at the next reboot, and automatically reboots with the new system software image to re-join the IRF fabric. 1. Perform the irf auto-update enable command to enable the automatic software upgrade function for the IRF fabric. system-view [Sysname] irf auto-update enable 2. Perform the quit command to return to user view. [Sysname] quit 3. Perform the bootrom command in user view to manually upgrade the BootWare image of the master. If the system software image contains the BootWare image, this step is required. If not, skip this step. bootrom update file newest.bin slot 1 This command will update bootrom file on the specified board(s), Continue? [Y/N]:y Now updating bootrom, please wait... Bootrom update succeeded in slot 1. NOTE: Manually upgrading the BootWare image of the master can avoid the following problem. During the reboot process, the master automatically upgrades the BootWare image and thus gets delayed. As a result, the master re-joins the IRF as a subordinate and the subordinate becomes the new master. The subordinate and master have different image versions, so the subordinate automatically downloads the old system software image from the new master, and automatically reboots with the old system software image. The upgrade fails. 4. Perform the boot-loader command in user view to load the file newest.bin and specify the file as the main image file at the next reboot. boot-loader file newest.bin slot 1 main 17
