ipv6 enable Chapter 11 I Commands Send documentation comments to [email protected] ipv6 enable To enable IPv6 processing and configure an IPv6 link-local address on the interface, use the ipv6 enable command in interface configuration submode. To disable IPv6 processing and remove the link-local address, use the no form of the command. ipv6 enable no ipv6 enable Syntax Description This command has no arguments or keywords. Defaults None. Command Modes Interface configuration submode. Command History Release 3.0(1) Modification This command was introduced. Usage Guidelines When you enable IPv6 on an interface, a link local address is automatically assigned. This address is used for communication on the switch. Examples The following example enables IPv6 processing on the interface. switch# config terminal Enter configuration commands, one per line. End with CNTL/Z. switch(config)# interface gigabitethernet 2/2 switch(config-if)# ipv6 enable The following example disables IPv6 processing on the interface. switch(config-if)# no ipv6 enable Related Commands ipv6 address ipv6 nd ipv6 traffic-filter show interface Configures the IPv6 address and enables IPv6 processing. Configures IPv6 neighbor discovery commands on the interface. Configures IPv6 ACLs to filter traffic for packets on the interface.
