Hardware support This section describes the hardware devices supported by the B-series MP Router for iSCSI. Fibre Channel switches The MP Router iSCSI mode supports any B-series switch in an MP Router backbone fabric. The MP Router backbone fabric consists of at least one MP Router and includes all other routers and B-series switches connected to the MP Router through E_Ports. iSCSI initiators connected to the MP Router's iSCSI ports can only access storage connected to the MP Router backbone fabric (Figure 43, page 122). Edge fabrics consist of all Fibre Channel switches and their attached storage connected to the MP Router through EX_Ports. Edge fabrics are not accessible to iSCSI initiators connected to the MP Router's iSCSI ports (Figure 44, page 123). Storage systems MP Router iSCSI devices must connect directly to the backbone fabric of the router. The supported arrays are as follows: • MSA1000 • MSA1500 • EVA3000/5000 • EVA4000/6000/8000 • XP storage systems Software support MP Router iSCSI supports single-path devices only. Multipath software is not supported. Operating systems and network interface controllers The MP Router supports the following operating systems: • Microsoft Windows 2000 SP3, SP4 • Microsoft Windows 2003 Standard Server and Enterprise Editions The MP Router in iSCSI mode is compatible with all HP-supported NICs for Windows. Network Teaming MP Router iSCSI supports HP Network Teaming with Windows 2000 and Windows 2003. iSCSI initiators MP Router iSCSI supports Microsoft iSCSI initiator 1.06. Configuration rules Table 190 describes the iSCSI configuration rules for the MP Router. SAN Design Reference Guide 383
