Burner sparks but does not light s Is there continuous sparking, but the burner does not light? Discontinue use of the surface burner and contact a service technician. Excessive heat around cookware on cooktop s Is the cookware the proper size? Use cookware about the same size as the surface cooking area, element or surface burner. Cookware should not extend more than 1 in. (2.5 cm) outside the cooking area. Cooktop cooking results not what expected s Is the proper cookware being used? See "Cookware" section. s Is the control knob set to the proper heat level? See "Cooktop Controls" section. s Is the appliance level? Level the appliance. See the Installation Instructions. Grille and Griddle results not what expected s Was the grille or griddle preheated? Preheat grille or griddle. See "Grille" or "Griddle" sections for more information. s Is there proper air circulation between foods? Space food evenly across the grille grates. s Are foods taking too long to cook? Partially frozen or very cold foods will increase cooking time. Thoroughly defrost foods. Oven will not operate s Is the electronic oven control set correctly? See "Electronic Oven Control" section. Cooling fan runs during baking, broiling or cleaning s It is normal for the fan to automatically run while the oven is in use to cool the electronic control, and may run for up to 45 minutes after oven has been turned off. Display shows messages s Is the display showing "PF," "PF id=27" or "PF id=30"? There has been a power failure. Clear the display. See "Display(s)" section. On some models, reset the clock if needed. See "Clock" section. s Is the display showing a letter followed by a number? Clear the display. See "Display(s)" section. If it reappears, call for service. Self-Cleaning Cycle will not operate s Is the oven door open? Close the oven door all the way. s Has the function been entered? See "Self-Cleaning Cycle" section. s On some models, has a delay start Self-Clean cycle been set? See "Self-Cleaning Cycle" section. s Has a delay start been set? See "Timed Cooking" section. s On double oven modes, one of the two ovens will not operate? If one of the ovens are in a self-cleaning cycle, the second oven cannot be set to a clean function until the first oven has finished cleaning and has cooled. Oven cooking results not what expected s Is the appliance level? Level the appliance. See the Installation Instructions. s Is the proper temperature set? Increase or decrease temperature 25°F (14°C). s Was the oven preheated? Wait for oven to preheat before placing food in oven. s Is the proper bakeware being used? See "Bakeware" section. s Are the racks positioned properly? See "Positioning Racks and Bakeware" section. s Is there proper air circulation around bakeware? See "Positioning Racks and Bakeware" section. s Is the batter evenly distributed in the pan? Check to make sure batter is level in the pan. s Is the proper length of time being used? Increase or decrease baking or roasting time. s Has the oven door been opened while cooking? Oven peeking releases oven heat and can result in longer cooking times. s Are baked items too brown on the bottom? Decrease oven temperature 15°F to 25°F (9°C to 14°C). s Are pie crust edges browning early? Use aluminum foil to cover the edge of the crust.
