Chapter 1 What is the Sony CLIÉ Handheld? 4 Application Buttons Activates the individual applications that correspond to the icons on the buttons: Date Book, Address Book, To Do List, and Memo Pad. It is touch-sensitive and responds to the stylus. See "Using Graffiti® writing to enter data" in the Operating Instructions manual to learn how to write Graffiti characters. 7 POWER Button Used to turn your CLIÉ handheld on or off. Also, press the POWER button and hold it down for two seconds or longer to turn the backlight of the LCD display on or off. Tip If your CLIÉ handheld is turned off, pressing any application button activates your CLIÉ handheld and opens the corresponding application. 8 LED indicator Flashes to notify you at a given time if you set an alarm in Date Book or the World Alarm Clock application. Also lights while charging the battery, and turns off when charging is complete. 13
