48 HOW TO RIDE the starter button. • Push starts. Repeat until the engine Moving Off sure the transmission is in neutral. • Make Apply the front and rear brakes. • Release the parking brake. • With the clutch pulled in, press down on the • shift pedal with lever your toe to engage 1st gear. the brakes. • Release Gently release clutch lever while gradually in• creasing enginethe speed by pushing forward on the throttle lever as the clutch engages. NOTICE Do not operate the electric starter continuously for more than 5 seconds. The starter will overheat and the battery power will drop temporarily. Wait 15 seconds between each operation of the starter to let it cool and the battery power recover. Do not let the engine idle longer than five minutes or engine overheating and damage may occur. j NOTE żPractice starting and stopping (using the brakes) until you are familiar with the controls.
