SAFE OPERATION 63 Before Starting the Engine Three "musts" before starting the engine are: 1) Set the parking brake, 2) Put the transmission in neutral, Use the Parking Brake Always apply the parking brake before getting off your vehicle. If it should roll, it might be damaged or cause injury. NOTE żThe engine can be started in any shift position if the clutch is pulled. However, it is recommended to shift into neutral before starting the engine. 3) Check the throttle for proper operation. It should snap closed when released with the handlebars in any position. j
