Practical hints Vehicle status messages in the multifunction display Display messages Only shift to P when vehicle is at a standstill. P Shift to P or N to start engine. Possible cause/consequence You have attempted to shift the automatic transmission into park position P although the vehicle was still in motion. You have attempted to start the engine with the KEYLESS-GO start/stop button while the automatic transmission was in reverse gear R or drive position D. Possible solution X Stop the vehicle. X Shift the automatic transmission into park position P or neutral position N. Make sure the brake pedal is depressed. Tires Display messages Check tires, then restart Run Flat Indicator. Possible cause/consequence There has been a warning message about a loss in the tire inflation pressure and the Run Flat Indicator was not restarted yet. Possible solution X X Make sure the correct tire inflation pressure is set for each tire. Then restart the Run Flat Indicator (Y page 262). Have the Run Flat Indicator checked at an authorized Mercedes-Benz Center. Run Flat Indicator Inoperative The Run Flat Indicator is malfunctioning. X Z 317
