damage to the steering lock mechanism. ¼ When towing manual transmission models with the rear wheels on the ground or four wheels on the ground: Always release the parking brake and move the transmission shift lever to the N (neutral) position. Observe the following restricted towing speeds and distances. Manual transmission models: ¼ Speed: Below 60 MPH (95 km/h) ¼ Distance: Less than 500 miles (800 km) If the speed or distance must necessarily be greater, remove the front and rear propeller shafts beforehand to prevent damage to the transmission. SCE0115A SCE0138 VEHICLE RECOVERY (Freeing a stuck vehicle) ¼ Use the towing hook only, not other parts of the vehicle. Otherwise, the vehicle body will be damaged. ¼ Use the towing hook only to free a vehicle stuck in sand, snow, mud, etc. Never tow the vehicle for a long distance using only the towing hook. ¼ The towing hook is under tremendous force when used to free a stuck vehicle. Always pull the cable straight out from the front of the vehicle. Never pull on the hook at an angle. ¼ Stand clear of a stuck vehicle. Do not spin your tires at high speed.
