6. Turn over the heatsink and note the placement of the thermal pads. Replacement Note: Any time the heatsink is removed or a replacement heatsink is to be installed, make sure new thermal pads are applied in the following orientation: • Largest pad at the top of the thermal plate • Small rectangular pad in the middle of the thermal plate • Mid-sized square pad at the lower end of the thermal plate Replacement Note: If the thermal pads remain on the logic board, carefully remove them with a black stick.
