Shooting 49 Shooting a Movie Use the movie mode to shoot movie clips. • Set the shooting mode to . Select a Shooting Mode • The LCD monitor will turn on. (§ p. 36) • The available recording time (seconds) will display. • Press the shutter button fully to start recording images and sounds. • A red dot and recorded time (in seconds) will appear on the LCD monitor while recording is in process. • The maximum length of a movie clip (at approximately 20 frames/second) is approximately 4 seconds ( ), 10 seconds, (( ) or 30 seconds ( ) (according to standard Canon testing conditions). These times may vary with the subject and shooting conditions. Recording will automatically stop when the maximum time is reached or when the CF card runs out of free capacity. • Recording will stop when the shutter button is pressed again while a movie is recording. • Be careful not to touch the microphone while recording. • The exposure compensation, focus, white balance and zoom settings remained fixed at the values selected for the first frame. • After a clip is shot, the upper indicator will flash green while the clip is being written to the CF card. You cannot shoot until the flashing stops. • The digital zoom, flash, continuous shooting mode and compression settings cannot be selected for movies.
