Section 3: Installing and Configuring the Print Server Using BOOTP in UNIX Follow these steps to set the Internet address using BOOTP: 1. Append the following entry to your boot table. This is typically performed by editing the file: /etc/bootptab :ht=:vm=:\ :ha=:ip=:\ :sm=:gw= Example: npsname:ht=ether:vm=rfc1048:\ :ha=00408c100086:ip=192.168.3.191:\ :sm=255.255.255.0:gw=192.168.1.1 Notes: t Enter the ht and vm fields exactly as shown. t The ha field is the Ethernet address and the ip field is the Internet address of your AXIS 1440. t The gw and sm fields correspond to the default router address and subnet mask (DEF_ROUT and NET_MASK). 2. If necessary, update your host table and alias name databases as required by your system. 3. If it is not already running, start the BOOTP daemon. This is typically performed using the bootpd command. 4. Restart the AXIS 1440 to download the Internet address, default router address and subnet mask. The AXIS 1440 can automatically download a customized config file from a TFTP server. Just add the name of the config file and the Internet address of the TFTP server to your boot table. Using BOOTP in UNIX
Follow these steps to set the Internet address using BOOTP:
1.
Append the following entry to your boot table. This is typically
performed by editing the file:
/etc/bootptab

ha
field is the Ethernet address and the
ip
field is the Internet
address of your AXIS 1440.
The
gw
and
sm
fields correspond to the default router address and
subnet mask (
DEF_ROUT

).

If necessary, update your host table and alias name databases as
required by your system.
3.
If it is not already running, start the BOOTP daemon. This is
typically performed using the
bootpd
command.
4.
Restart the AXIS 1440 to download the Internet address, default
router address and subnet mask.
The AXIS 1440 can automatically download a customized config file
