Section 5: Setting Up Windows Workstations Setting Up Windows 3.1 and Windows for Workgroups Workstations Use AXIS Print Utility for Windows to configure printer ports on Windows 3.1 or Windows for Workgroups. Before you begin these procedures, install this utility on each workstation performing peer-to-peer printing, or on server workstations in a client-server printing environment. See Software Installation on page 18 for instructions. About AXIS Print Utility for Windows AXIS Print Utility for Windows does the following: • Configures workstation printer ports to use the AXIS 1440. • Captures and monitors print jobs directed to the AXIS 1440 port, and notifies you of problems. Print jobs are directed through a spool directory either at your local hard disk (peer-to-peer mode), or at the file server (client-server mode). For more information about AXIS Print Utility for Windows, see the on-line help. Notes: t Microsoft Network protocols (NetBIOS/NetBEUI) must be running when using AXIS Print Utility for Windows. t You can use AXIS NetPilot or the internal web pages to change the default name or default parameters of the AXIS 1440. AXIS Print Utility
for Windows
AXIS Print Utility for Windows does the following:
Configures workstation printer ports to use the AXIS 1440.
Captures and monitors print jobs directed to the AXIS 1440 port,
and notifies you of problems. Print jobs are directed through a
spool directory either at your local hard disk (peer-to-peer mode),
or at the file server (client-server mode).
For more information about AXIS Print Utility for Windows, see the

Notes:
Microsoft Network protocols (NetBIOS/NetBEUI) must be
running when using AXIS Print Utility for Windows.
You can use AXIS NetPilot or the internal web pages to change
the default name or default parameters of the AXIS 1440. See
