Section 5: Setting Up Windows Workstations Windows for Workgroups Peer-to-Peer Printing Note: Follow these steps to configure the printer port on your workstation to use the AXIS 1440 for peer-to-peer printing: 1. Double-click the AXIS Utilities icon in Program Manager, then double-click the AXIS Print Utility icon to start the program. 2. In the Port menu, click Add. 3. In the NPS Port list, select the AXIS 1440 port to be installed. The port name appears as .LP1, where is AX followed by the last six digits of your print server serial number (for example, AX100086.LP1). 4. Click on the port name in the NPS Port field to highlight it. The port name should appear in the Windows Port field. Make a note of the Windows port name, as you will need this later. If the port name doesn't appear in the Windows Port field, make sure the name is highlighted in the NPS Port field. If necessary, click on the port name in the NPS Port field again to highlight it. 5. Type any desired comment in the Description field.Then click OK to install the Windows port. 6. In the Port menu, click Connect... 7. Select your EPSON printer driver from the list of Installed Printers, then click Connect... 8. Select the Windows port name from step 4 above (this name can be found at the bottom of the Ports list). 9. Click OK to close the Connect dialog box, and Close to save your settings and close the Printers dialog box. Peer-to-Peer Printing
Follow these steps to configure the printer port on your workstation to
use the AXIS 1440 for peer-to-peer printing:
1.
Double-click the AXIS Utilities icon in Program Manager, then
double-click the AXIS Print Utility icon to start the program.
2.
In the Port menu, click Add.
3.
In the NPS Port list, select the AXIS 1440 port to be installed.
The port name appears as <name>.LP1, where <name> is AX
followed by the last six digits of your print server serial number
(for example, AX100086.LP1).
4.
Click on the port name in the NPS Port field to highlight it. The
port name should appear in the Windows Port field. Make a note
of the Windows port name, as you will need this later.
Note:
If the port name doesn’t appear in the Windows Port field, make
sure the name is highlighted in the NPS Port field. If necessary,
click on the port name in the NPS Port field again to highlight it.
5.
Type any desired comment in the Description field.Then click
OK to install the Windows port.
6.
In the Port menu, click Connect...
7.
Select your EPSON printer driver from the list of Installed
Printers, then click Connect...
8.
Select the Windows port name from step 4 above (this name can
be found at the bottom of the Ports list).
9.
Click OK to close the Connect dialog box, and Close to save your
settings and close the Printers dialog box.
Your printer port configuration is complete, and you can now print
through the AXIS 1440 Print Server.
