Section 10 Updating the Software Upgrading the Software You can upgrade the AXIS 1440 flash memory using either of the following: • AXIS NetPilot (for networks supporting IPX/SPX). • FTP (for networks supporting TCP/IP). Contact your EPSON dealer if the above methods fail, or call EPSON at (310) 782-2600 (U.S.) or (905) 709-9475 (Canada) 6 AM to 6 PM, Pacific Time, Monday through Friday. The AXIS NetPilot and FTP upgrade procedures are described on the following pages. Upgrading Using AXIS NetPilot This method is recommended for upgrading flash memory in NetWare networks. An Upgrade Wizard is available to guide you through the necessary procedures. Just click the Upgrade icon on the AXIS NetPilot toolbar to display the Upgrade Wizard menu. To ensure that the upgrade goes smoothly, put the file with the new software in the Upgrade folder. This folder, which was created when AXIS NetPilot was installed, resides in the same folder as AXIS NetPilot. Upgrading Over the Network Using FTP To upgrade over the network using FTP, you need the file with the new print server software. The name of this file is in the form product_version.bin, (for example, 1440_551.bin for software release 5.51). You can obtain this file from the EPSON Home Page or FTP site on the Internet. The AXIS 1440 must be installed and configured for TCP/IP as described in Configuring the Print Server for TCP/IP on page 23. 76 AXIS 1440 User's Manual

Network Using FTP
To upgrade over the network using FTP, you need the file with the
new print server software. The name of this file is in the form
product_version.bin
, (for example,
1440_551.bin
for software
release 5.51). You can obtain this file from the
EPSON
Home Page or
FTP site on the Internet.
The AXIS 1440 must be installed and configured for TCP/IP as
described in
Configuring the Print Server for TCP/IP
on page 23.
