Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer. 3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer. 4. Remove the battery (see Battery on page 32), 5. Remove the optical drive (see Optical drive on page 33). 6. Remove the keyboard/top cover from the base enclosure (see Keyboard/top cover on page 36). 7. Remove the WLAN module (see WLAN module on page 50). 8. Remove the subwoofer (see Subwoofer on page 55). 9. Remove the system board (see System board on page 58). Remove the Power button board and cable: 1. Turn the top cover upside down, with the back edge toward you. 2. Remove the two Phillips screws securing the Power button board to the base enclosure (1). 3. Remove the Power button board (2). Before removing the Power button board, follow these steps:
1.
Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn
the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2.
Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3.
Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and
then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.

Remove the battery (see

Remove the optical drive (see

6.
Remove the keyboard/top cover from the base enclosure (see

7.
Remove the WLAN module (see

Remove the system board (see

on page

).
Remove the Power button board and cable:
1.
Turn the top cover upside down, with the back edge toward you.
2.
Remove the two Phillips screws securing the Power button board to the base enclosure

Reverse this procedure to install the Power button board.
