Card reader board NOTE: The card reader board spare part kit does not include the card reader board cable. The card reader board cable is available using spare part number 856204-001. Description Card reader board Spare part number 856208-001 Before removing the card reader board, follow these steps: 1. Turn off the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect the power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from the computer. 3. Disconnect all external devices from the computer. 4. Remove the bottom cover (see Bottom cover on page 31). 5. Remove the battery (see Battery on page 33). Remove the card reader board: 1. Release the ZIF connector (1) to which the card reader board cable is connected, and then disconnect the card reader board cable from the system board. 2. Detach the card reader board cable (2) from the keyboard/top cover. (The card reader board cable is attached to the keyboard/top cover with double-sided adhesive.) 3. Remove the Phillips PM2.0×2.2 broad head screw (3) that secures the card reader board to the keyboard/top cover. 4. Release the card reader board (4) by sliding it to the right until it clears the retention clip (5) built into the keyboard/top cover. 40 Chapter 5 Removal and replacement procedures

Before removing the card reader board, follow these steps:
1.
Turn
off
the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is
off
or in Hibernation, turn
the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2.
Disconnect the power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from the computer.
3.
Disconnect all external devices from the computer.
4.
Remove the bottom cover (see
Bottom cover
on page
31
).
5.
Remove the battery (see
Battery
on page
33
).
Remove the card reader board:
1.
Release the ZIF connector
(1)
to which the card reader board cable is connected, and then disconnect
the card reader board cable from the system board.
2.
Detach the card reader board cable
(2)
from the keyboard/top cover. (The card reader board cable is
attached to the keyboard/top cover with double-sided adhesive.)
3.
Remove the Phillips PM2.0×2.2 broad head screw
(3)
that secures the card reader board to
the keyboard/top cover.
4.
Release the card reader board
(4)
by sliding it to the right until it clears the retention clip
(5)
built into
the keyboard/top cover.
