9 Backup, restoration, and update 9.3 Will data be erased if I update my tablet? Updating your tablet using a downloaded update package will erase some data, such as your accounts, custom settings, installed applications, contacts, messages, email settings, browser history, and bookmarks, but videos and images you saved on your tablet will not be erased. Performing the online update on your tablet will not erase your data. For details, see the version description. To avoid data loss, it is recommended that you back up important data before updating your tablet. 9.4 Will all data be erased if I restore my tablet to its factory settings? No. Restoring your tablet to its factory settings will erase some data, such as your accounts, custom settings, installed applications, contacts, messages, email settings, browser history, and bookmarks, but videos and images you saved on your tablet will not be erased.
