Ethernet controller operation mode switch setting: When you want to change the Ethernet controller operation mode from Normal to MAC Disabled, you must change the setting of configuration switch 6. Notes Read "Safety information" on page 212. Power-off the server and all other connected devices. Disconnect all external cables attached to the server; then, remove the server cover. 1. Locate the configuration switches (also known as rocker switches) on the system board. For more information, refer to the label inside the server, or see "System board illustration" on page 142. 2. To set the Ethernet controller operation mode to the appropriate value, set switch 6 as shown in the following illustration. It might be helpful to use the end of a small screwdriver to set the switch. Attention The following illustration is for reference only. Before you change the settings for switch 6, be sure that you check the orientation of the server system board to correctly identify the switch number locations. If you change the settings for the wrong switches, you might seriously damage server components or options. Note In the following illustration, MAC represents medium access control. Make the required adjustments to the Ethernet controller address. 5. Move the switch back to the OFF position. 6. After changing configuration switch settings, you must reconfigure the server.
