Follow any special handling and installation instructions supplied with the battery. 3. Turn off the server and all attached devices and disconnect all power cords and external cables; then, remove the server cover (see "Removing the top cover and bezel" on page 51). 4. Disconnect any internal cables as necessary, so that you can access the battery. 5. If the server does not contain any full-length adapters, continue with the next step. If the server contains a full-length adapter in PCI-X slot 2 or 3, you must remove it. Move the adapter locking lever to the unlocked (open) position on the adapter-support bracket as indicated by the arrows. Then, remove the adapters. See "Working with adapters" on page 53 for additional information about adapters. 6.
