16. Set the assembly on a firm and static-protective work surface; then, remove the six screws that secure the power backplane to the backerplate and set the screws in a safe place. Note: Any serrated washers located at the screw holes remain in place. 17. If you are replacing the power backplane, remove the power backplane from the backerplate; then, position the replacement power backplane on the backerplate and attach it with the six screws that were removed in step 16. Attention: Do not overtighten the screws. 18. If you are replacing the I/O board, remove the power backplane from the backerplate and position it on the new backerplate containing the replacement I/O board; then, attach it with the six screws that were removed in step 16. Attention: Do not overtighten the screws. 19. Reinstall the I/O board and power backplane assembly by angling the front end of the assembly into the chassis first; then, gently slide it toward the front of the server while lowering the rear of the assembly into the chassis. 20. Align the two notches on each side of the assembly with the two metal loops on each side of the chassis. 21. Grasping the center flange, slide the assembly toward the rear of the server until it is in place. 22. Finger-tighten the two thumbscrews on the rear of the server. Attention: Do not overtighten the screws. 23. Replace the power supply structure (see "Power-supply structure" on page 78). 24. Continue the reassembly procedure by following steps 1 on page 81 through 11 on page 82 in reverse order. Notes: a. Be sure to route the cables in between the fans, and then through the channel with the plastic lip. b. The SCSI backplane cable and the external SCSI cables have similar connectors; be sure to reconnect them correctly. c. The cable for the Remote Supervisor Adapter II must be routed over the top of the PCI adapter insulator located closest to the center of the server. Do not route the cable underneath this insulator. d. Be sure to align the Remote Supervisor Adapter II cable correctly; the Remote Supervisor Adapter II is keyed to accept the cable in one direction only. 84 IBM xSeries 365 Types 8861, 8862: Hardware Maintenance Manual and Troubleshooting Guide

18.
If
you
are
replacing
the
I/O
board,
remove
the
power
backplane
from

then,
attach
it
with
the
six
screws
that
were
removed
in
step
16.
Attention:
Do
not
overtighten
the

on
page
78).
24.
Continue
the
reassembly
procedure
by
following
steps
1
on

Notes:
a.
Be
sure
to
route
the
cables
in
between
the
fans,
and
then
through
the
channel
with
the
plastic
lip.
b.
The
SCSI
backplane
cable
and
the
external
SCSI
cables
have
similar
connectors;
be
sure
to
reconnect
them
correctly.
c.
The
cable
for
the
Remote
Supervisor
Adapter
II
must
be
routed
over
the
top
of
the
PCI

Do
not
route
the
cable
underneath
this
insulator.
d.
Be
sure
to
align
the
