Optional step: If desired, install the right rack mount bracket 2 (see Figure 3 on page 11) and the left rack mount bracket 3 on the switch chassis. Use these brackets to secure the switch to the rack as shown in Figure 5. Attention: Do not use screws longer than 3/16 in.; they can damage the switch. a. Position the left rack mount bracket at the left front corner of the switch chassis. Align the two holes in the bracket with the two threaded holes in the switch chassis. b. Attach the bracket by using two of the 8-32 x 3/16 in. zinc screws (see 6 in Figure 3 on page 11) c. Repeat step 4a and step 4b for the right rack mount bracket on the right front corner of the switch chassis. 5. Attach all four of the 3-hole rack mounting brackets 4 in Figure 6 on page 14. a. Position a 3-hole rack mounting bracket 4 at the end of one of the outer slides. b. Attach the bracket by using the 8-32 x 3/8 in. zinc screws 9 . Ensure that the screw heads are inside the slides. c. Place one each of the following items on the outer end of the screw in the order listed: 1) Washer, flat No. 8 10 2) Washer, lock No. 8 11 3) Nut, hex, 8-32 12 d.
