Deleting a Power-On Password: Use the Configuration/Setup Utility program to delete a power-on password. To delete a power-on password: 1. Start the Configuration/Setup Utility program (see "Starting the Configuration/Setup Utility Program" on page 38). 2. Select System Security from the Configuration/Setup Utility program menu. 3. Select Power-On Password. 4. Select Delete Power-On Password and follow the instructions on the screen. 5. Refer to "Exiting from the Configuration/Setup Utility Program" on page 41 for instructions on saving your settings and exiting from the Configuration/Setup Utility program. Erasing a Lost or Forgotten Power-On Password: If you have lost or forgotten your power-on password, you must remove the computer cover and move the CMOS Clear jumper (also referred to as the password jumper on the system board) in order to erase the power-on password so that you can regain access to your system. See Installing Options in Your Personal Computer for instructions on removing the computer cover and moving jumpers. Refer to the system board label inside the computer cover for the location of the CMOS Clear (password) jumper. Important If you move the CMOS Clear jumper, you will lose all setup data stored in the computer, and you will need to reconfigure the computer.
