Automatic Power-On Startup Sequence The Automatic Power-On Startup Sequence settings determine the order in which devices in or attached to your computer will start when your computer is turned on by a method other than the power switch. These settings are used in conjunction with the automatic power-on features in your computer (Serial Port Ring Detect, Modem Ring Detect, Wake on Alarm, and Wake on LAN). For additional information on the automatic power-on features, see page 55. To access the Automatic Power-On Startup Sequence settings, select Start Options from the Configuration/Setup Utility program menu, and then select Startup Sequence. Wake on LAN This setting is used to enable or disable the Wake on LAN feature, which makes it possible for your computer to be powered-on from a remote computer. Remote network management software (such as IBM LANClient Control Manager, NetFinity, or Intel LAN Desk) must be used in conjunction with this feature. To access the Wake on LAN setting, select Advanced Power Management, and then select Automatic Power On from the Configuration/Setup Utility program menu. Note: To use Wake on LAN with an optional network adapter: The network adapter must be properly configured, Wake on LAN-enabled (using the Configuration/Setup Utility program), and connected to the system board connector (using the appropriate cable). For instructions on installing an adapter, refer to Installing Options in Your Personal Computer. Integrated Ethernet must be disabled through the Ethernet disable switch on the system board. (Refer to the system board label inside the computer cover for the location of the switch.) Update POST/BIOS from Network This setting is used to enable or disable the Update POST/BIOS from Network feature. When the feature is enabled, the system programs in your PC can be updated remotely by a network administrator from a management console. Automatic Power-On Startup Sequence
The Automatic Power-On Startup Sequence settings determine the order in which
devices in or attached to your computer will start when your computer is turned on
by a method other than the power switch.
These settings are used in conjunction

Wake on LAN
